Mitch Lichtman - artist

For more than forty years, I worked as a design architect — a career I often described as “never working a day,” because I loved it so completely. I went to the studio not to labor, but to play, to imagine, to sketch. After decades of shaping spaces for others, I now find myself exploring a more intimate landscape: my own creative terrain. This exhibition marks my transition into a new chapter of making. Here, I investigate form and texture through an architectural yet deeply personal lens. Each piece begins without intention or plan; the forms emerge gradually, almost subconsciously, revealing themselves to me as I work. The resulting body of work traces a narrative of my own journey — from pain and fear toward renewal, possibility, and openness. The first vessel, with its pronounced belly, stands as a symbol of rebirth.
